We understand that pain can affect each person in different ways.  It’s important to seek advice from a healthcare professional to ensure you get the best advice for managing your pain. Inbetween those visits to your GP or pharmacist there are things you can do whilst at home to help keep your pain under control.

Relieving your pain at home

Relieving your pain at home

Light exercise

This could include walking, swimming or light dancing, or even household chores that keep you moving. Though pain can make it difficult, gentle movement may help ease your pain. Remember to start slowly and don’t push yourself too hard. These activities will have an added benefit of keeping you busy, distracting you from focusing too much on your pain.

Relaxing

Making time to relax your muscles and taking it easy is as important as keeping moving. You can do this by practicing some yoga moves or breathing exercises that help keep you calm. You may want to gently massage the area causing pain or soak it in a warm bath or shower.

Drug-free alternatives

Products such as a TENS machine provides effective pain relief by sending very small electrical impulses around your nerves to block pain signals. You could also try Flexiseq, a non-medicated gel, relieves pain and stiffness when applied and ideal if you have osteoarthritis.
