Do you need a hearing test? Six signs of mild to moderate hearing loss.

Did you know age-related hearing loss affects 70% of 70 year olds and around 40% of all 50 year olds?
You may well have. Who hasn’t had to repeat something or speak a little louder to an older family member or friend during their life?
What might astonish you is that it takes most people nearly eight years before they do anything about hearing problems and that an estimated four million people in the UK aren’t wearing a hearing aid when they could benefit from one.
So, it comes as no surprise that when we polled 1,500 British adults almost half (41%) said they feel frustrated by a family member’s hearing loss, with two thirds of women (63%) saying they’ve felt like a ‘living hearing aid’.
The impact poor hearing can have on someone’s life and those around them cannot be understated. Simple day-to-day tasks like talking on the phone, going shopping and chatting with friends can become stressful for people experiencing hearing loss.
Below you’ll find six signs of age-related hearing loss. If you recognise any of the following, either in your own hearing or someone else’s, your life could be improved by a hearing test: Other people seem to mumble
- People often have to repeat things for you
- You have difficulty understanding what is being said in noisy places
- It’s hard to keep up with group conversation and you get tired because you have to concentrate so much
- Other people have commented that your television or music is too loud
- You often have difficulty hearing on the telephone
Looking after your hearing is important. Whilst there’s no cure for age-related hearing loss, tests are free and modern hearing aids can vastly improve the quality of life for those who use them, enabling them to communicate with ease once again.
Our partnership with Sonetik Hearing Care means LloydsPharmacy can offer free hearing tests, which have 100% accuracy. If a test concludes that you have an age-related hearing loss you can be fitted with a Sonetik hearing aid and walk out with improved hearing within the hour.
Remember, you’re not alone in this; good hearing shouldn’t be a luxury.
