Not sure what your Body Mass Index is? (BMI) Here’s how to work it out for yourself!

Step 1. Weigh yourself in kilograms (kg) Step 2. Measure your height in meters (m) Step 3. Divide your weight by your height Step 4. Divide that answer (weight/height) by your height again! Step 5. This number is your BMI!

For most adults, an ideal BMI is in the 18.5 to 24.9 range. If your BMI is 25 or more, you weigh more than is ideal for your height. If your BMI is less than 18.5, you weigh less than is ideal for your height.

Most adults are at risk of high blood pressure and many people don’t have symptoms of high blood pressure so it’s important you get checked!

Although all adults are at risk of having high blood pressure, if you fall into the below categories, you are at a higher risk of having increased blood pressure. So get yourself checked out for FREE!

  • You’re older – Did you know more than 50% of people over the age of 60 have high blood pressure?
  • You have a family history of high blood pressure or heart disease
  • You’re overweight and don’t do much exercise
  • You’re of Asian or African-Caribbean descent
  • You drink more than 2-3 units of alcohol a day
  • Your diet includes a lot of salt – processed foods are often high in salt
  • You don’t eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day
  • Our pharmacy team will be happy to discuss any blood pressure concerns you have
